The mountain bike routes are graded in colours like ski runs and marked with numbers.

1. The green route indicates 'Parcours tres facile', very easy trails along four-wheel drive tracks and 'Ski de fond'  tracks that are used for cross country ski-ing in the winter.

2. The blue route indicates 'Parcours facile', easy trails along wide tracks with gentle uphills.

3. The red route indicates 'Parcours difficile', difficult trails along thin paths. Be warned some sections of red routes are very difficult.

4. The black route indicates 'Parcours tres difficile', very difficult trails along continuous up-hill struggles.

* For those who don't like hard up-hill routes, bikes can be taken on the cable-cars allowing you to experience extreme 'full brakes all the time' descents.

Mont Blanc Massif and Chamonix Valley - A mountain bikers dream!

Our chalet is just 100m from the Bellevue cable-car and the start of some magnificent trails. Pick up a route map and explore the valley or jump on the ski lift for an adrenalin-charged mountain descent!

With a huge variety of tracks throughout the valley and mid-mountain you can be sure you'll find something to suit you whatever your experience, age or ability.

Some ideas to tempt you!

  • Aiguille du Midi: Bikes only permitted to the mid-station. From the exit of the Plan de Aiguille there are several downhill routes back to Chamonix.
  • Brevent: You can use the first section which takes you up to 2200m. From here there's a variety of routes. Head down the piste towards Flegere, or if you are brave you can drop into the Brevent Bowl famous for its 'Couloirs'.
  • La Flegere: Always open to mountain bikers. From here you can attempt the ride to La Lac Blanche and earn a well deserved rest, stop for lunch, and reward yourself with an excellent 15km descent back to Chamonix.
  • Les Houches: Take the Bellevue cable-car (100m from our chalet!) up to the top station. Then descend right to the Col de Voza. It is possible to ride to the top of Le Prarion. On the west side a trail zig-zags down to St. Gervais. This route is appropriately named 'The Corkscrew'.
